    FrogComPosBand Ninja question

So i've recently started a new character, I got curious and messed around to find the Fastest Race/class/personality combination and am so far having a blast as a hermes demigod Ninja with the Hasty personality. Playing around the Ninjas Strengths of Stealth/mobility and the bonus damage they deal when striking from the shadows is a very unique way of playing that's a ton of fun.

That said I've noticed that rarely when I strike from the shadows I do absolutely insane amounts of damage in a single blow, Single attacks that deal more damage with a single blow than I typically do with both weapons in a whole round. Like I recently did more than 1200 damage with a +12 +7 dagger with nothing more special than a poison brand on it. my average Damage per round against a poison susceptible enemy with that weapon is 80 on sheet and maybe closer to 160 when I strike from stealth.

what I'm curious about is if anyone happens to know exactly what it is that causes those occasional deadly blows and if it's something I can work towards triggering more often. Is it Just random chance? some unusual mechanic with how crits stack with the stealth blows? Does the chance scale with level? Or maybe weapon proficiency? will it trigger more or less often with some weapons over others?

It's just a neat thing to encounter and as a whole I'm curious to understand it and the class I'm playing better.

It is a ninja crit, just happens when you attack from hiding and is why you should always use quick step to move, hit, move, hit (not only are you stepping at like 1/4th of a turn, but also when you are hiding enemies have a 50% chance to act confused, even attacking their own teammates just because you are walking around while hiding). Ninja plays by fishing for these extremely powerful crits which sometimes are just straight instakills. And yes you can maximize your odds by dual wielding. It is the most common way to play a ninja. Ninja's have the dual wield skill and you double your chances of getting this powerful crit by doing so. Since like you said, the damage from these crits is so astronomical that it completely outshines any normal attack round by literally 10x damage or more, playing without dual wield crit fishing is completely inferior. Sorry that I got back to you a month late but hopefully you still get something useful out of this. You are better off going to the live service and asking someone there. You'd have gotten a response almost right away instead of a month down the road. Good luck!
