How do you Barter inZAngband?

I'm in the Vanilla town of ZAngband (the one used in traditional Angband), and according to the manual, I can barter with the shop owners, and it has a whole guide about it, but I can't seem to figure how to suggest a different price and whatnot. Could someone please help?

Check if there's an option called auto_haggle, and turn it off if you find it. If there's no such option, you're probably playing a version that doesn't include that feature, try an older version of ZAngband.
