[Z]Sorting through all the drops, how?

For the first time I am really starting to get deep in a *band. Learning how to play properly and taking my sweet time instead of plunging headlong until it results in my inevitable death. So now the question comes up, how best to deal with ALL the stuff critters are starting to drop? Much of my inventory space is taken up by necessary delving equipment, spell books, scrolls(phase door, tele, satisfy hunger, recalls and idents), a few rods and staves... it seems terribly inefficient to pick up a few things, let my rather slow psudo tell me if I should identify them, rinse repeat. I worry, though, that if I rush I will miss something important.

My current character is a cl26 Hobbit Chaos Warrior(He started out a Neiblung, thank you SO BLOODY MUCH Mabelode). I am playing one of the last stable Zangband releases, 2.7.3 I think.

Inventory management is a major aspect of the game. You're not supposed to have room for everything you want.

As for sifting through items, Chaos Warriors are at a slight disadvantage. You don't have an Identify spell, and your pseudo is slow. However, you do eventually get a recharging spell. I typically carry a staff of perception and recharge it when empty. You'll lose a staff on occasion, but they seem to appear frequently in the dungeon.

Use a macro for quickly identifying items. I like to inscribe my staff with @u5 and then create an F5 macro \eu5- which will identify an item on the floor. Conveniently, if there's no item on the floor then it will prompt you to identify something in your inventory instead.

Unfortunately ZAngband is worse than vanilla in terms of junk drops. There are a lot more useless items to sift through. At some point you may consider using rods of acid balls to quickly destroy non-artifact items on the ground. Just be aware that you might also destroy a few good egos (boots of speed, etc...) which do not resist acid.
