lost both my characters to broken save file?

im not new to this game but something happend today that has me wigged out! i had a ranger character that was at the max level of decent and a mage character that was 2 levels away from max level of decent and both of them crashed... is there a glitch with going to 130... both my characters wont open now and it said..broken save file!

i had them so set with there weapons and armour i was even wearing the ring of power on both characters..

why did my characters crash?
