Having had good fun playing TinyAngband, I decided to try out it's big brother, Xangband. The latest version, v 1.31, was released in March, so its pretty up-to-date, yet it hasn't seemed to have generated any comment, or activity on the ladder.
I recommend that anyone who has enjoyed Tiny gives it a try. Its best described (I think) as Hengband meets Vanilla: one dungeon, a small wilderness, with 4 towns (each has an entrance to the same dungeon), with some new classes. I tried it mainly to give the Snatcher class a try - essentially a new take on the TOME possessor class. I'm having great fun occupying Nodens at the moment - my nemesis in a number of previous games of Heng and Entro. Fabulous magic abilities (Haste, Heal, Manastorm, summoning etc), and passwall is great, but his "giant" status means no body armor, cloak, gloves or boots. I also had great fun in Susanoo the Angry's body - no armor restrictions, combined with break wall ability (and a 400 HP heal spell). There are a few other, essentially unique classes to try (the sniper class looks very interesting). It doesn't look like there are any spoilers around (at least I couldn't find any), but it didn't take me long to figure out most things during regular play without too much problem.
