    The One Ring

I just killed Sauron and got the one ring, is it worth wearing or should I just stick it in my home. The only other Ring of Power I have is Narya, a gift from Saruman. What would you suggest???

Don't wear it! The Dark Lord will see exactly where you are at all times and after a while he'll start controlling you and you'll turn into a wraith..

    My old variant DaJAngband:

But once you overthrow Sauron and Morgoth, you become a free agent Evil Overlord.

I'm playing Zangband. I've read the item description and am a bit unsure whether it's really a bad thing to wear the ring or not....

Well, from memory, it does carry an ancient and foul curse, doesn't it ? If so, I'd advise against, but it's only my thinking. And I never finished this game

As far as I'm aware, in all variants it's the best ring in the game. The only conceivable thing you'd want to swap in for is a big speed ring if you have no other source, and you can save your other slot for that (+5 is nothing to be sneezed at, anyway). The only downside is aggravation, but totally worth it, since you're at endgame anyway. Wear it, m'boy - not many ever get the chance.

AFC is bad. Unless you're already using something AFC and AFC on multiple items don't stack the One is a questionable idea in any Z lineage game.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to bind them.
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness interrupt the movie.

Is it more like a TY curse, or a DG (ToME) curse? If it's a TY curse, it may be worth suffering for a short time (ie: while fighting the final boss.) There's a similar artifact in steamband which is almost useless until the final battle. There are several artifacts in V that are useful against Sauron, but not for general play. In short: you probably don't want to wear it until you are ready to make the final one or two critical kills.

EDIT: If your character is already super-powered without The One, and he doesn't have a perfect saving throw, there's no reason to risk 1-3 turns of paralyzation v Morgoth/Oberon/Serpent (or whatever). But if you are worried about running out of resources, and/or you don't have to worry about paralysis, it's a pretty good risk.

AFC (Ancient Foul Curse) is TY_CURSE. DG_CURSE is ToME only. AFC in Z is worse than in ToME because ToME has no cyberdemons. Other than that they're the same curse.
