    Autoscum is already gone in SVN. Having played both with it and without it, I think that the pacing is better with autoscum off (it's easier to get overconfident).

    I'd be more comfortable with removing the autoroller if points-based were meant to be an effective replacement. Points-based is clearly *not* an effective replacement, and evidently never was meant to be: in exchange for guaranteeing that all stats are at least mediocre, it explicitly prohibits getting three 17 base stats (the autoroller can do this). They are intended to support different styles of character generation. (In contrast, removing classical character generation could make sense, *if* the autoroller were extended to include social class).

    I'd also be interested in seeing what a "unified" gold allocation would be like playwise (using the same rules for calculating gold in normal stat rolling as points-based), but that would almost certainly involve pulling social status into points-based generation.
    Zaiband: end the "I shouldn't have survived that" experience. V3.0.6 fork on Hg.
    Zaiband 3.0.10 ETA Mar. 7 2011 (Yes, schedule slipped. Latest testing indicates not enough assert() calls to allow release.)
    Z.C++: pre-alpha C/C++ compiler system (usable preprocessor). Also on Hg. Z.C++ 0.0.10 ETA December 31 2011

      I have one question though... I wonder what errors in the character screen you are talking about... And what exactly do you mean by "sometimes getting stuck with a race"?
      I've had some really weird problems with P's character generation, occasionally when I'm generating a char and use the S option I'll get stuck with a race... and it won't let me change it like you'd expect it would. Doesn't happen every time but it happens enough to make me a bit batty (bail out and restart gets rid of it.) Maybe a circumstance where the race isn't being unallocated when S is hit. Dunno.

      Don't get me wrong, I think P is good, its just a bit less polished than the rest... and I think yer right, the features are more important than polish, thats always something that can be added

        Ah yes, that "S" bug... I know about this one. Thanks for reminding me of it!

          It was clearly not a different style choice -- Ben indicated he wanted to remove autorolling with the advent of point-based. Further, I believe he indicated he didn't consider it finished.
          takkaria whispers something about options. -more-

            I'm partial to FuryBand obviously....

            But besides that, I'm a big fan of Entroband, it just feels right.
