    Angband 4.1.3 -- Morgoth at 140 speed?

A lot of the advice on defeating Morgoth in older threads says "don't go in without speed at least 130 to match his, so he can't double shot you."

It looks like at some point Morgoth got bumped up to 140--at least, he's that speed in 4.1.3.

Does the same advice apply--it is unwise to go in without speed at least 140? My High-Elf Ranger has 1036 HP, so a single mana storm is not a problem, but my speed is 132 or so. That means that after X turns he'll get to move twice, as I understand it, where X is maybe 10 or 15.

If so, there aren't really are any perfect tactics;--one just hopes he doesn't double mana storm at those times? My first time headed down to level 100 ever. So I just wanted to confirm.

He has always been speed 140, which is +30. 110 is base speed

Some time ago i setted that option on "Speed as Percentage" birth option, but i don't remember what its the difference without it, i remember that without it, in the monster Recall screen it sayed like "the monster is Fast" or something like that, but whit that option was like "1.50X your speed", its there another difference? if not using that option, its there a way to see the real speed of a monster (and mine) and not only "fast" "very fast" etc? like "110", "120", etc?

It's essentially always the case that "slowly" means -10, "fairly quickly" means +5, "quickly" means +10, "very quickly" means +20 and "incredibly quickly" means +30. The underlying code doesn't strictly restrict them to those particular values, but V has very few (if any) monster races with unusual speeds.

Your speed is displayed in the sidebar (if other than +0) and on your character sheet (always) regardless of options, the option only affects the display format.
