How the hell you dive past DLV 60

    Howdy.

Today, I my Dunadain Mage died again.. probably to Plasma Hound...
I was fighting Ancient Green Dragon.. and Dreadlord appeard out of wall,
so I PD out... TO it out and continued my carnage towards dragon..
But.. I made mistake.. I PD again into little corridor.. rest you know.

Anyway, the biggest problem w/ diving I have is that pretty damn everything
can easly kill you in 2 ranged attacks.. I have no resistances, except rBlind.
I had like CL30.. and INT18/100 but still.. past DL60 detection is not reliable..
There are pretty a lot nasties that are invisible (so detect wont work)
and they can move out of the walls.. and they are faster that you...

So, how to dive? Should I stay more on DL50 ?
Also, weird is... I didnt saw any single Vault.. yet.. I died around DL65..
    Auto-scum is off...

Im playing Angband 3.0.6 (a bit modified for packrating and better adv
resistances, a bit more HP and twice SP...)

Leave the level at the first sign that something might go wrong. Do not stay on levels. Do not get everything from levels. The longer you are on a level the more awake monsters there will be and the less room you will have to maneuver. As an exercise, try leaving each level as soon as you find the next staircase. You will die, rather a lot, but you will see more of the game and learn a lot about how to avoid fights, which is a key skill especially for mages.

Do not get into a situation where your only options are unsafe. E.g. using Phase Door to escape a breather is unsafe. Using Teleport in general is unsafe. Every time you use an unsafe option is a chance for the game to kill you. Think ahead and try to plan such that you don't need those unsafe options.

Yeah, Ive read those guides And Im trying to do so.. but sometimes I get
      themted to get some XP

I cant really avoid fighting because I will end up having CL10 entering DL60..
This means even more certain death...

Lets start over and be more carefull..

I wonder how to get good gear not killing monsters. I usualy find trash
on dungeon, and great gear is dropped from UNIQUEs..
Of course this game was really unlucky... no single vault encountered..
So having only rBlind + basic resistances.. is no no for DL60

AAAArfghh.. I love RNG.... Playing new character... as usual fast dive
up to DL5 to just get potions and scrolls and junk to sell (to ID potions).
And what did I sell? Potion of Dexternity... arfgh!!! How.. HOW? on DL5..

And its always like that Then.. to get anything like that.. I need to go
        beyond DL40 holy necro...

Anyway.. new jurney continues... Luicky.. got some stuff at Home already..
Its like 5 or 6 deaths already....
I just need to be cautionus this time

You want stealth for that. If you really want to dive recklessly, prioritize stealth over almost everything else. Fire resistance isnt worth much if the dragon breath kills you regardless.

Try ID'ing potions by quaffing rather than by selling. Especially on the early levels, the upside of quaffing a really good potion is much bigger than the downside of quaffing a bad one. Sleep and confusion only last a few turns so aren't really dangerous. Salt water can be counteracted with food. That pretty much leaves poison as the only truly dangerous potion (assuming you are not playing a really old version with detonation).

Hmm, Im always afraid of quafing unknown potions... Maybe I should give it
                a try....

Yes, I have it Potion of detonation.. But they appear deep in dungeon,
like potion of Death or. Ruination.. By that level I will have Identify spell..

Found early arti.. Dropped my some Unique.. Had hard fight, barelly killed him.
So, I think now Im ready to go to DL30.. Got some little stealth buff..
Now I just need to find 2 Detect Object staffs and keep remember to not take
too much risks.. Live will be easier when I will get rBlind + rConf...

I need potions... because its so
fragile for now.. If only I had 300 HP... I could survive one mistake..

So far so good Reached DL60 again... But now stronger that earlier.
Still, need to be cautionus about Undead... no rNether or Hold Live, so
                  they attacks can be devastating...
