BM was selling a ring of the mouse (+0,-5)
As i had not learned the run of DEX or Stealth yet, this was all i was seeing.
The ring sold for 0 gold.

I wore it and learned the two runes, turns out the ring is (0,-5) <+4,+2>
Sold it to the magic shop for 200 gold.

I just bought a ring of the mouse (0,-5) from the black market <+2, +3> for 0 gold as well. I didn't sell it, though (selling off). Odd that you were able to make a profit on it after buying from the BM

Lately I always was short on money to buy a useful stat potion or such from the BM. So I turned selling on in my next game and made a fortune with selling dungeon books and the like. Alas, there is nothing to buy in the shops.

Seriously, the game does that on purpose, right?

I've seen +9 speed boots in the armoury before, so you do on occasion get lucky but generally there's not much you can do other then buy out the BM so it resets. You can generally get a few extra destructs or heals before the final fight this way.

aside from the occasional stroke of luck such as boots of speed from the armorer or a bow of lothlorien from the weapon smith, things which i always look for are a helm of intelligence for my mages, magical arrows from both weponsmith and BM, stat potions, including potions of Intellect and Contemplation to ID so i don't accidentally drink one while in the dungeon (obv depending on the class i play), pots of Speed to ID, a few scrolls of Recharging (which are not always available at the alchemist), and of course all the CCW and RLL i can stash.
