What was the last version to include selling to stores?

I love treasure hunting for specific valuable objects, as an amusing side quest.

Does anyone know the last version released with merchants who buy items? Does not have to be exact.

I love this game, getting back to it after a long break.

Selling has not been removed, it's still available in 4.2.0. You just have to turn it on in the birth options at character creation.

Then you'll be disappointed with 4.2, the shopkeeper knows the true worth of things and won't give you anything for it.

I'm not sure that is true, if it has not been id'ed, but I haven't played the selling game for a long time.

Perhaps we should have a shop keeper class that is terrible at all the core game skills but can auto identify everything in the game...
