Ghosts - Ladder characters back from the dead!

I used to love running into ghosts of other players' dead characters on the old Angband. Does this feature still exist?

Would it be possible to create a ghosts file which included every uploaded dead character on the ladder and people can have the option of importing it into their game?

It will definitely cause some group debate on the forums when a ghost appears and tries to kill you!! :-)

I would laugh if one of my previous dead characters started attacking someone.

It would take the name of the character and some basic stats and create a new uniques list. Each ghost has a low chance of appearing at their level of death.

That feature was removed from V a good while ago, though it remains in some variants (O, S, FA, probably several others). However, I think if we raise enough ruckus Nick could be persuaded to put them back. The monster list is being reworked currently, so that would be a neat addition.

Turning the ladder into a giant bones folder would be difficult in many exciting ways, I think. However, I do think angband.live could quite easily have a single bones folder, which would be fun. In fact, IIRC it already does for variants with player ghosts.
