    Iron Man Birth Options

If I select starting with no kit it gives me more gold for potions. Is that allowed for ironman? Considered a cheat? Don't want a leg up but dont want to cheat myself either.
Just had the most frustrating game. Farmer Maggot was there when I launched and dropped gauntlets that turned out to be FA. From there on I have never had a single game where the drops were fewer. I know, boo-hoo

Ironman is a somewhat defunct birth option (it has been split into force descent and no town, though if you turn on both you get old ironman). Ironman never had any stipulations about starting kit. No starting kit is definitely your best bet to avoid wasting cash on nonsense, and there's nothing cheat-y about it. Since birth options are recorded in dumps, there is doubly nothing wrong with it, since everyone sees which ones you have. If you want to give yourself extra challenges there are plenty of birth options that enable that, and using the starting kit would be one of them (or, and I think someone actually did this once, start with no kit and go down on the first round anyway).

The main thing to remember is that challenge options are there to make the game more fun for you. Whatever is most fun for you is legitimate and is allowed, unless there's a specific set of competition rules.

Ok thank you. I agree that the idea is to have fun and no hard rules. I think I would find it a little easier having no kit as a warrior and using the extra gold for phase door and clw. My weapon is no better than my fists anyway. I think Ill try that cheers

In fact, you can try the "fists only" challenge.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”
