I stick with the classic advice "buy lantern, kill Morgoth".
Only, that you can't buy a lantern anymore right away. But there are plenty in the dungeon. ^^
0. Forced Descent, disconnected stairs, no starting gear, no selling
1. Choose H/T Warrior and allot 8 pts. to STR, 6 pts. to DEX and 6 pts. to CON.
2. buy a couple !CLW, a ?Recall and a bunch of phase doors. Maybe a !heroism. Dagger/whip/main gauche are optional. Spend remaining gold on 1d5 bolts and food. Eat your food early on and shortly after becoming not full so as to not die from glutton ghost. Don't drink found potions so as to not starve to death on salt water.
3. Dive fast for the first 12+ levels. Your combination of super CON and 3+ blows per round will see you through with relative ease (less Umber Hulk).
4. Collect a bunch of unknown potions; return to town once you have at least 4500 gold. Buy _Teleportation. Buy !CSW, buy !CCW. Sell potions. Buy back useful ones. Hold onto sleep/slow potions for ID'ing FrAct.
