It can't be a problem with that setup. You must have some weird option set, such as "set movement delay" or a high base delay factor.

Try re-downloading Angband and a 'clean install' of it with default settings.
My best try at PosChengband 7.0.0's nightmare-mode on Angband.live:

If I'm offline I'm probably in the middle of maintaining Gentoo or something-Linux or other.

Don't try to play angband without a gtx 2080 ti sli and 64Gb of RAM.
Jokes aside are u playing on the precompiled binaries or did u compile the game?

Also make sure num lock is on if you are playing with a numeric keypad and the gcu display. If I recall correctly, there is some weird interaction between the ncurses library and certain special key codes such as "INS", which requires an input delay to be added.

All my suggestions up to now assume that the problem is a delay between (key) input and (onscreen) output. If that's a different problem, please describe it in more detail.

It is no longer laggy, but I'm not sure what I did to fix it. It may have simply been the font I had been using wasn't right, as it did seem to improve when I changed fonts. But now it's better than ever and very fast.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the mouse pointer while I'm playing. Since I zoom in on my screen, moving the mouse pointer off screen or to the corner isn't really feasible because then it scrolls the entire screen since it's zoomed in.

            Thanks for the tips.

Other things with the computer weren't working quite right right out of the box but the computer has mysteriously fixed many of them. It doesn't have any issues now and is quite fast.

You might try increasing the font size within Angband rather than using the OS-level screen magnification. That will give you naturally large and readable Angband windows, and you can just park your mouse cursor somewhere unobtrusive without any scrolling issues.

I've figured out there are two places that affect resizing the main window (term-0). Both are adjusted under the Window menu. There is the font size under Font, and then there is Term 0 Font Tile Size. Trying different combinations of these I was able to get the main window to be a decent size and proportion, but still not perfect. I wonder if it is possible to add custom font sizes and custom Font Tile Sizes to get it even better?

I haven't figured out how to make the font of the sub-windows bigger. It seems I would need to somehow modify the Term-X Font Tile Size where X = any number other than 0, but I can't figure out how modify the values of windows other than Term 0 Font Tile Size.

I wonder if it is possible to add custom font sizes and custom Font Tile Sizes to get the window aspect ratios perfect? When I record the game, it cuts off the bottom of the main window probably because the aspect ratio of the window is not the same as my screen's resolution.
