    Paladin Equipment Choice

    For now continuing playing the comp58 paladin. for the first time in ANY band i have more than a single artifact...
    1. MG of Maedhros (disenchanted by Ibun , sadly)
    2. Phial (this is the ONLY artifact i HAVE got before)
    3. Arvedui
    4. Paurhach

    since i'm at STR 18/51 and depth 1050', i wonder if wielding Arvedui is better than not.

    on the one hand , thats my ONLY source of wearable rBase, the other being a Defender longsword which is WORSE than Maedhros.So i dont event think that is an option.
    I do have an amulet of rAcid and rLightning, but i have to keep swapping them around, and a Large Shield of rFire ... but that isnt really covering much.

    on the other hand, wielding Paurhach and Arvedui does the whole (encumbers your movement) and bashes my Mana pool down from 50 to 37.

    feedback would really be much appreciated!

    What I would do:

    Sell the boots and store the shield in town. A little AC is not even worth the weight of those items, let alone loosing spellpoints. Arvedui gets used, of course. That should fix the spellpoint issue.

    As for melee weapon, Maedhros is very excellent. The only alternative is Aglarang, and then only if free action and see invis is covered from elsewhere. If that happens (for example, you find rings of free action and see invisible), Id consider swapping. Chances are it wont make much difference unless you gain another attack with the higher dexbonus from the katana. Loosing the +3 to int might increase your fail-rate for devices.

    Also Id switch to the xbow for launcher. Extra might effectively turns your shortbow into a longbow, while the crossbow of extra shots is roughly the same as a longbow with double fire rate, so about doubles the ranged damage.

      I agree with Estie - using a small leather shield and soft leather boots should get you down to your armor weight limit. The extra +AC is just not worth very much. Personally, I'd exchange the +accuracy ring for another +damage ring. And be on the lookout for a +wis amulet.

      [Also, your character is way powerful at this point; you should drop down to level 33 or 34 (1650 - 1700') and start gathering +stat potions.]

        i chose to go down barefoot, because i picked up a Small Leather shield and even a soft-leather boots put me over the limit.
