How should I get more spells?

Level 11 mage, have only the starter spellbook. Is it worth buying another from a shop, or wait to find them? (3K gold).

Pick up book 2 And 3 ASAP. The spells in them do much more damage than magic missile, as soon as the fail rate gets low enough. And you really need the teleport escape spell. There are a few monsters that resist fire, cold, and acid. Avoid them. Lightning bolt just doesn't do much damage. (It's good against a bunch of monsters in a hallway, though.)
