    Hey, cats. It's been awhile. I pulled up this older character (the highest and deepest I've gone), Berta the half-troll bitch for 4.0.4, and I'd be welcome to hearing any advice from the pros on how to proceed. Thanks!

    You have plenty of Healing and you're doing 572(!) damage vs. Evil. You have enough banishment and Teleport Other. Yeah, another point of DEX would be nice. But It's time to win the game with that character.

        There's something really wrong here... A HT warrior with almost max STR and DEX cannot get 6 bpr with a blade of chaos? Then what's the point of being a warrior?

          Actually, use Nenya instead of the second Ring of Speed. That will get you more damage, sustain CON, and only a little less speed when hasted. A ring of Damage would be a good choice too.

            What is so wrong with it? Blade of Chaos maxes out at 5.8 bpr. The poster's @ is 1 point of Dex from getting that max. Half-trolls always have trouble getting their Dex up. The advice to use Nenya and then temporary speed boosts to make up for losing the second speed ring should put @ at the max blows.

              I also agree about swapping a speed ring for power ring. Base speed +26 is very good (all you really need is base speed +20). When you haste yourself with +32 speed you get a very negligible real world increase in your speed at +42 speed since speed dramatically stops increasing linearly at +28 speed. +42 speed is actually like +33 speed or something silly like that. And cold immunity is extremely valuable.

              Also, when I play with standard artifacts I'm never able to use Thorin shield since I always feel like I'm giving up something more important than acid immunity by wearing it over some other good shield. I think my favorite shield is Haradrim, I believe it's called, that gives (+5, +5) rPois and I think <+3> to CON and if memory serves it sustains CON.

              Personally, I find Doomcaller a difficult weapon to use since it's removes your AC and aggravates everything nearby. My favorite weapon that I have found in Standarts is the Great Axe of Aulë, which I don't think is too rare, but my playstyle is perhaps a bit unconventional: I like to kill everything and rarely banish stuff. When aggravating, if you just TO everything you can't deal with eventually the level will become too crowded with too many dangerous things, removing self-teleportation as a viable escape. If this will be your first time fighting M you may want to find a good non-aggravating weapon. While 572 dam is good, I'd personally want it up to 650 or more before aggravating would be worth it for me.

              There are some things you will need to know about fighting Morgoth, not sure if you already know them?

                Yeah, I was a total virgin fighting M, and subsequently died horribly. Thanks for the advice though. This character was a little cheaty, so she didn't really count to me. I just wanted some experience getting an idea about S and M. I plan to make a new half-troll warrior here very soon when I get some time and playing straight.
