    character screen 2 - resistances

Is there any logic / pattern behind the colors in the character 2 screen (resistances)?

light blue if you got a resistance in that line
dark grey if you got nothing in that line

But sometimes i see white lines, what do they mark?

P.S. Gnome has infravision @ = true but the line is dark grey nevertheless.
    Blondes are more fun!

I think it's blue if you have the resist, white if you don't have it, grey if you don't even know the rune.

IIRC you need an item with infravision to learn the rune. Your poor Gnome isn't smart enough to figure out he has native infravision...

Makes sense -- having infravision doesn't mean you automatically know how to spell the word "infravision". If anything, mr. Att the gnome should be asking himself what is that useless word that he keeps reading but has no effect at all.

I thought infravision stacked for longer range. No?

slight derail here, but still a question pertaining to the UI. if i miss the "monstername speeds up" text, is there any way to see if a monster is slowed or otherwise affected by any status? maybe it could be added to the (l)ook command?

I just noted that a Half-Orc will know natively the resist dark rune. So not knowing the infravision rune is probably a bug.

At a guess, flags are set properly, but stat modifiers aren't. It wouldn't make sense for your Half-Orc to automatically know the "enhances STR" rune, for example.

...so by that analogy, does it make sense for Gnomes to automatically know the infravision rune?

Infravision is different than the other starting abilities. Unlike resistance items, infravision items stack with intrinsic infravision, so the rune is not redundant for characters with infravision. The rune is also learned immediately on equipping an object with it, so even if you don't feel a need for extended infravision range, there's no "why was I carrying this item for so long only to find that it's useless" phenomenon like there would be with redundant resistances. And it's a little silly to have a rune which is already known to everybody but humans.
