so besides 2 bosses and father christmas I'm still missing 1.

I haven't played the newest versions but i guess you can still check ingame the status of all uniques, can't you?
So it's easy the see who you missed. If you just care about the possible summons of M and you missed someone like Golfimbul, it's even worth leaving him live.

Though, the unpronounceable "Q" is great if you want to be a completionist. You can farm it to summon uniques until you've gotten them all (except Maggot, Christmas, and the Bosses).

Only if you've either copied monster.txt into lore.txt or else have seen all the uniques in previous games. Monsters that you've never seen at all don't appear in the knowledge.

Exactly....only the on'es I've seen show up...haven't bothered to copy monster.txt into lore.

You can save your game, copy, then reload. Nothing will break.
