Found this sling. Useful or throw it away (drains experience!) -> Back at level 1

Up to now I have never found one early enough to consider using it. They are much more rare than launchers of power / accuracy, show up at similar depth, and have worse bonuses.

I would consider using it as a swap item for the big fights, though. You don't have to keep it equipped at all times.

Keep it for big fights AND if you need see Invisible. 30 damage per turn is a big deal early.

I just found shots of slay animal, which I understand do double damage to animals.

This gives me the opportunity to ask a question
If I am correct Creatures can be both animals and monsters.
Is there a list (table fi) listing all the possible animals and 1 listing the monsters?

Every enemy is a monster; that's just the blanket term for something you can kill. Animals are listed as "natural" in the monster memory; likewise, evil/giant/orc/undead/dragon/demon are also listed there so you know if the corresponding slay applies.
