    Random Thoughts

    1. Why don't health and SP regenerate when I enter my Home? I'm HOME for goodness sake! Relax, have a sleep in my own bed etc.

    2. When did the Phial and Arkenstone 'ofs' change? Phial used to be of Galadriel, now of 'Legil', Star of 'Nelis' and Arkenstone of 'Gorfir' instead of Thrain. Is this just LotR geekdom gone to the nth degree or what? I'm playing 4.0.4-dirty and don't remember this from 3x. Been playing since the early '90s at least, if not before.

    3. Missiles are a bit overpowered, I regularly until recently found it more expedient to kill uniques right up against me with arrows instead of hitting them. But why the restriction of Elemental Brand? This used to give missiles of lightening or acid but now just Fire, Frost and Venom. Yet I've just found arrows of lightning and can enhance them Enhance Weapon easily. That doesn't make sense to me.

    4. Still not tempted by 4.1, not being able to Identify potions is a dealbreaker for me.

    2. You are playing with randarts.

    4. Bugs me to, but it isn't that bad. I try to buy essential potions from the black market (e. g. intellect if playing a paladin etc.)

And poison doesn't work properly, or acid. It seems as though every single humanoid in the dungeon is fully resistant to poison including scruffy little hobbits. In that they can be poisoned but they are never poisoned in that the poisoning finishes as soon as it is inflicted on them.

YET my character can be poisoned. Breathe poison on me, if a jelly touches me etc. This never happens to monsters. The system can keep track of monster healing even when the monster in question is on the other side of the dungeon because I've jumped or teleported them away. So it can keep track of a negative drain on hit points. Other games do this, Avernum for eg. Works with acid and lightning too. Anything which can be done to me I can do to them. Arms equal. Arms are not equal in Angband.

Also if I'm in a group melee and I'm hitting stuff and throwing ball spells and so is some monster, a hound for eg and that monster breath is inflicted on vulnerable monsters. Yet if I hit an orc say until it is almost dead and a hound breathes cold on it and the orc dies I get no experience. Yet if said orc is reduced in hitpoints by breathing hounds and I finish it off then I do get the experience. Again it seems to me the accounting system should be able to handle partial credit of experience in helping to kills something even if you do not inflict the coup de grace.

After all if I'm immune to the hound breath so can leave it/them for later but position myself cleverly so this mass of orcs get breathed on then why can my skill and cleverness be rewarded with some experience points?

Ah, thanks. I have misunderstood the full range of randarts then. I shall better inform myself. Though it doesn't really matter.

BTW I think the distribution of artefacts is fine. Time was I would oft find the Phial before I'd even found a lamp. That happened to me a lot in the past. in 4x I have found myself in the quandary of having found the Phial but it doesn't give See Invisible but my lamp of seeing does. So it's up to Home to don that ring of see invisible again but which useful ring to replace it with? I like that.

When enemies take poison damage, they take it all at once. You're getting an extra x2 on your missile damage thanks to that poison brand (so e.g. an x3 longbow is effectively x5 when using poisonous arrows against a non-resistant target). You, lucky special snowflake that you are, get the damage spread out over many turns, instead. Is it weird that monsters and the player's character don't work the same way here? Absolutely. On the other hand, poison deals 1 damage per turn so it's not exactly like it makes a big difference either way.

Pretty sure he's mistaken. I don't recall ever having had lightning or acid brands from the spell.

Pre-quiver, it would have been an inventory-management nightmare.

                1.

As soon as you get home(IRL) are you fully "recharged" and ready to go out again? Same rule should apply

I disagree. In competition, turncount matters, including the time needed to restore hps and sps. If you want them restored quickly, use a consumable. Then again, maybe that's what you meant. I'm not recharged the moment I get home from work.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

IsnĀ“t the point that you "recharge" at home in a way you dont in the dungeon ?
Not wanting any game changes here, just chiming in randomly.
