    Torch of brightness with Infravision

I found this torch and equipped it on a Dwarf, then eventually removed it and now I can't see in the dark when in a hallway, only larger rooms. Any ideas if this is how it is supposed to be? I never had problems before I eq'd the torch.

Infravision only lets you see enemies (i.e. it's useless for reading scrolls or spellbooks, or seeing items/doors/etc.), and even then only if those enemies are both warmblooded and close enough. Dwarfs have 50' of infravision, so even without extra bonuses, they can see warmblooded enemies within 5 tiles.

You can see in the rooms because they're naturally illuminated. They should have a brighter background color compared to non-illuminated tiles. As you get deeper, rooms will be less and less likely to have such natural light.

Ahhh! That solves it, thanks. I thought infravision meant you didn't need lanterns/torches
