    Some Newb Questions

Hey guys, I'm glad to join this forum and play Angband. I started playing Rogue around 1994 but somehow didn't get around to Angband till now. I'm really enjoying the game! I've never had more fun playing a mage in a video game than in Angband. I have a couple noob questions that I only ask after hours of searching and browsing. I'm playing version 4.0.5 (downloaded from the main site) on MacOS 10.12.

    1. I've figured out that tilesets take the shape and size of whatever font I have selected. Therefore, to view the tilesets properly, I have to select a square font. No problem there. The question is: how could I view the tilesets in their original size without the character info on the left side of the screen taking up half the screen? I'm on a smallish screen at 1280x1024.

    2. A lot of the keybindings that are supposed to take me to different menus don't work. I can't use "!" to "interact with system" or "@" to interact with macros, and a couple others. I'm not using the "roguelike" keybindings, just the standard ones, and most of them work. Has this been addressed?

    3. Every time I die, which is often, and I want to start over, my only option seems to be to quit the game and relaunch it. Is there a way to restart the game from the death screen?

    4. Have any Mac users tried playing Angband in a Wineskin wrapper?

    Thanks.

    Not yet. Maybe after 4.1!

"!" shouldn't be there anymore, and I've removed it from the documentation for 4.1. Can you tell me where it says "@" should interact with macros? I can't find anything in the documentation about that. I'd love to hear any other issues you've found with keys not doing what you expect.

    Sadly not.

    4. Have any Mac users tried playing Angband in a Wineskin wrapper?
Why would you want to do this!?
takkaria whispers something about options. -more-

Just to expand a little on takkaria's answer by way of explanation: This is an unfortunate effect of how the whole code of the game is organized and is not easily fixable, alas.

Thanks for the replies! I must've been going off an ancient command description, like this one from 2005: http://www.thangorodrim.net/help/macrofaq.txt

It's not too disappointing, and I'm relieved I don't have to keep looking for solutions. I've found what I'm looking for in the "=" menus, thanks to your more current documentation!

Why Wineskin? Well, maybe the windows version just looks or feels or acts better, so it's worth running through Wineskin, I dunno. Just wondering.

Fortunately we're not in one of those situations where the Windows version gets disproportionately more attention than any of the other versions. At least, not with Vanilla. If you wanted to play PosChengband on Mac, though, Wineskin would probably be your best bet.
