stop *some* items from stacking

i'm looking for a way to stop my magic books from stacking, so that i don't wind up with 37 Magic For Beginners.

i believe this will require inscribing but i have no idea how that works.

Well !g autoinscription SHOULD work, but apparently doesn't.

What works for me is (even if it's sort of a workaround):

Squelch (Ignore) the four basic magic/priest books when you have the number of books you need, while keeping !d in the inscription of the books in inventory, so those won't be dropped. If you need more copies from the dungeon unignore it via 'K' or unignore the specific book or just buy them from the stores.

I autoinscribe the magic-books with
@m1@b1@G1!k!v!d
@m2@b2@G2!k!v!d
etc, per *old* inscription-standards. It works, but I'm not sure !k is really necessary nowadays come to think of it ...

Money is a special case because there's zero downside to having more of it. It doesn't use up inventory slots or weigh anything, and the only negative thing that happens re: money is it gets stolen, which having less money doesn't usefully impact.
