      Amulets of Adornment seem to be there simply to piss off players, which is not IMO a good rationale for having them in the game.

        well, it's a sparkly amulet, give it +1 light. Oh what the heck, i feel generous, +2 light!

          Maybe they should just convert to gold once IDed. If they are blingy, then make them worth what a gold drop would be worth (or maybe more). That would make them slightly valuable in non-ironman games at the levels at which they are typically found without having to force some dungeon utility on them.
