Yet Another First-time Winner
And done!
This was my first legit win, and I first picked up Angband in 1993! I had a super-save-scummy win in the mid 1990's sometime, but had only gotten past DL90 once or twice in the past 15 years (I only play sporadically, but still this stretches over dozens or hundreds of games).
The fight was actually pretty tense. I came into the level near the middle, and my mapping light hadn't recharged from DL99. I didn't really have time to pick a battlefield before Morgy found me. Big P summoned a lot, and I burned through my small stacks of banish/mass banish, and used several rounds of TO plus Destruct as well. I also did most of this at +28 Speed, but I didn't notice him getting any double-moves while in combat (phew!). I thought I was going to do more archery but I rarely had LOS on him at range. Maybe I would have been better off just shooting even from point blank range, but didn't think about it until later. The spear I used was the one I found at 900'.
I felt like I played fairly quickly, but my dump says 700k turns!? So impressed with the people who do this in 100k or less. Also, HT Warrior is quite forgiving.
