    Mudd

    Hiya everybody!

    A quick intro and background....

Played some Nethack and Moria back in the early to mid 80's.
Can't say how far along I got, but have been wanting to revisit for some time.

Had heard of Angband being a Moria descendant so a month or so back I downloaded the latest Vanilla and gave it a shot.

Been thru about 7-8 characters so far ....mostly some combination of Gnome or High Elf Rogue or Ranger. I seemed to die around clvl 29-30 with all characters up until my latest who is currently 37. Been meandering up and down between 1500 and 2000 feet.

I love the interface compared to what I remember of Moria.

I've been surprised by a few OOD characters and had to run from the Mouth of Sauron around 1900 feet once. Just now I ran into the Balrog of Moria on 2000 and I don't think I'm sticking around for that.

Did a character dump on the ladder - check it out:

I've been using the name Mudd for almost every character I've played going back to the 80's.

I am a little farther along than I've been before so I could definitely use advise on equipment and inventory management....what to keep and what to throw. My biggest struggle is deciding what to throw out for room at home.

I've been using a Robe of Permanence for the obvious benefits, but I figure at some point it won't cut it anymore. Also, most of my weapon choices have been dictated by the free action capability as none of my other equipment has it. Found Calris and managed to uncurse it, but haven't used it as I'm afraid of going without FA. Also found(and was stuck with) the cursed helm Gorlim for quite awhile.

Thanks for this forum, it has been quite a help....and thanks in advance for any thoughts on the character Mudd!

    Hi Mudd!

I wouldn't bother with the staff of earthquakes. And I'd ditch the scale mail. Oh, and that armour of resistance is completely superceded by your elvenkind (although I'd ditch that too and stick with the RoPerm - it's endgame quality, the low AC doesn't matter).

    Have fun!
