    Minor keystroke issue with dropping

Minor annoyance with dropping ammo in 4.0.5. Let's say I have some less good ammo in slot 0 and better ammo in slot 1. I want to drop all the ammo from slot zero. The keystrokes I would use are
    d
    | (shift-\)
    0
    a

For whatever reason, if I'm trying to do this quickly, I occasionally don't sufficiently sync the (shift) and (\) keypresses. This means instead of moving from the inventory screen to the quiver (which comes up by default with d), I stay on the inventory screen. The (0) press is then ignored, which means the (a) key press, which was intended to select all of the quiver slot, instead applies to slot a in inventory.

I don't know if anyone else experiences this, but I'm wondering what people think about either
Option A) throw a warning message when something other than an inventory slot is entered, rather than ignoring that input
Option B) if a number is entered instead of a letter for relevant commands like drop, inspect, etc, it would apply those commands to the relevant quiver slot even if the inventory screen is up.

I think I'd favor B as someone who wants the game to do what I want rather than what I entered, but I don't know if that's necessarily the most logical action for a new player.

Option B conflicts with inscriptions, which already let you refer to items with numbers rather than letters.

Also, still because of inscriptions, the impact of this problem for many players is minimized: for most classes, and most of the time, you are going to have in your slot `a` a textbook with a long inscription containing `!d`.

      Another possible solution:

      C. remove the `|` keybinding, and add a key that lets you open the quiver from your inventory. For instance, you access the quiver pressing `i` (inventory) and then `w`.

This replaces the awkward shift+\ combination with a sequence of two letters close to the home row, and solves the problem that the quiver is a bit hidden for new players: either you know exactly where it is and where to look for it, or you may miss the fact that it exists for the first few hours of play.

How about using the following sequence instead:
        |
        0
        d
        a
This should make it easier for you to sync the Shift and the \ key.

Thanks for the replies, all. I'd forgotten about the inscription issue. This char is a warrior which is probably why I just now noticed it the behavior.

I'll probably try to retrain myself to Werbear's solution, but old habits die hard.
