pStun & pConfuse (and minor, rSound). pStun is super rare. With pStun and 100% save you can rely on 0% fail prayer escapes.

After starting over, I usually plod through the levels until I find deep descent, with trips to town after exploring several levels. But today at 100' with level feeling 2-1, an acolyte dropped a Long Bow of Power (x3) (+7,+17). Pretty lucky find.

Early full detect objects spell. But it is less over-the-top awesome than it used to be because of loss of resistance and haste spells in 4.2. Also fewer HP.

What does that have to do with Kobolds?

Kobolds are stealthy with poison resistance and good CON and DEX. But really, it (and Hobbit) is just the canonical race for rogue.

Your characters will thank you for turning level feelings off, as it will (apparently) increase their life expectancies substantially.
