    Removing Curses

    I'm in the middle of an epic run so spamming this topic a bit in hopes of getting a quick reply.

    I put on Leather Boots of Wormtongue to sneak my Ranger around a 9-9 vault at depth 2000' and it looks like I'll escape alive (lvl 79 Mobs have spawned here, my HP rolls have been the worst, I may be posting my char's tombstone again in a few minutes!) with 2.5/3 vaults I'm headed out and now... I want to take those boots off.

    How does removing curses work in 4.0.5? I've hit the boots with 3 enchant armor scrolls so far and they're still frozen on tight. Help!

    Removing curse through enchantment is roughly a 1 in 4 proposition. For artifacts, that is cut in half. So you can expect to use 8 ordinary enchant armor scrolls on average, but there is a good chance of needing 16 or more.

    If you are curious about spell effects, check file effects.c (in this case, it is the function enchant_curse.)

    Edit: given the general rarity of the various enchantment scrolls, as well as the non-existence of ?Remove Curse, these are pretty bad odds. Better keep an eye on the black market. And perhaps enchantment scrolls should come in stacks.
