    So this just happened (randart)

I think the RNG is messing with me...

    Randart + Rune ID

This character has max stats and pretty much EVERY resistance active, base speed of 21, and STILL has not even SEEN resist confusion

That's the risk you run with randarts. The standard set tries to balance these sorts of things out. There are many randart games I've played where there's a huge resistance hole somewhere. The tradeoff is that you are more likely to get immunities and protection from stunning etc. Confusion is quite an annoying hole to have.

I would also say it adds to the challenge. Good luck with the character

He was never bothered by lack of double resistance or immunities. He had resistances in spades (including confusion) - He wiped the floor with Glaurung, Mouth of Sauron, and many others.

Turns out 'stun' was 'the hole' - he got wiped out by a Grand Master Mystic - Level 46, 3500'

      RIP

Yeah, stun protection is always a difficult one to try to cover, despite being quite a nasty gap to have. IIRC it was added later than the other protections (I think it used to be bundled in as part of sound resistance before it was separated out because that didn't make much sense for other methods of stunning) and so it's much rarer - I think even playing standarts it's only available on two artefact crowns and the Serenity ego, whereas pBlind and pConf appear on 12 artefacts each. It probably wouldn't hurt to add a few more sources of pStun to the game, actually - stick it on a few more high-end artefacts and maybe add a new type of amulet or something.

Unfortunately, serenity is one of the rarest ego items in the game...

Yeah, I knew pStun was rare but I didn't realise until I checked that it's only ever found on crowns, which are not only uncommon but competing for the helm slot where you'll usually have your source of ESP equipped. I feel like at least one or two of the top-end artefact rings or amulets should probably give stun coverage.

Sure, put it on Barahir. I never use that one anyway.

The 3 crown ego items are rare because the ego rarity is multiplied by the crown rarity, and crowns are pretty rare. Cloaks are significantly more common, so things like Cloaks of Aman, which have lower conditional rarity than Serenity, actually show up more often. This is why I hate the multiple p-values for Crowns of Might: really good ones are crazy rare when there are 3 pvals. For Night and Day, Lordliness, and Serenity, the multiple p-vals don't matter.

I actually had stun resistance on a bow at home which I wasn't using in favour of a bow with +3 str, +3 wis, +3 con, and +3 speed

                  Lesson learnt

If I don't have protection from stunning, I won't go near a Grand Master Mystic. I'll stay away or TO him away or destruct or banish his ass, if I have the ability. A GMM can too easily kill even a very powerful character with no protection from stunning.

They're rather unlikely to KO a character in a single turn. But there's also little incentive to fight them. At least they don't have ranged attacks.

If you do find yourself in melee with a Grand Master Mystic, just chug a potion whenever they stun you and you should be fine.
