How do I setup a macro to heal my friend?

My brother and I have setup a mangband 1.1.2 server and are playing together as a duo, he's a warrior and I'm a priest.

I have extensive macros set up, but when I try to set up a macro to heal him, it casts the heal but not on him (I think it casts it on me).

I inscribed "Chants and Blessings" with @p3@b3@G3!d!k!v

This is the macro I used:

\e(p3c

The ( should target him, and in fact it does tell me his life total when I use the macro, but he doesn't get the heal. What am I doing wrong?

I would recommend posting this in the variants subforum, and to specify mangband in the title. This subforum is for Vanilla (ie angband without any prefix), not Mangband, so many of the folks looking here are not going to know the answer (eg me). You may still get lucky, but using the right forum and a better title line will improve your odds.

This may be a stupid question, but if you execute that series of keypresses normally (i.e. not in a macro), does your friend get healed?

The macro is \e(p3C with a capital letter.
