I have Angband 3.0.9b setting in a folder in My Documents. Sometimes when I try to launch Angband.exe, nothing happens. It shows up as a running process in task manager, but the application never launches. I have to reboot my laptop until it works. Any idea what causes this and what I can do to fix it?

Not specifically; I've done this to myself by opening ~60 copies at once, so it's a resource shortage during the startup stage. I've tried inspecting main-win.c to see what's going on, and am fairly certain the problem is with a failing Windows API function not being dealt with cleanly. I haven't tried to fix it yet.
Rebooting seems a little draconian, however. I've used Task Manager to get out of this. (Close all visible Angband processes, then go into Task Manager and start killing all processes named angband.exe one by one.)Zaiband: end the "I shouldn't have survived that" experience. V3.0.6 fork on Hg.
Zaiband 3.0.10 ETA Mar. 7 2011 (Yes, schedule slipped. Latest testing indicates not enough assert() calls to allow release.)

I don't know why, but recently 'command prompt' of all things, blocks Angband from starting up.
Try systematically start killing off processes till you figure out which one is causing you grief. Once you kill the right one, angband will pop up.Comment
