Playing my L50 hobbit rogue again, have been down to L98, currently on L97. 86 uniques slain, and found a few things worth holding on to but no major improvements in my equipment loadout.
I just found a vault with a bunch of pushovers and non-noteworthy equipment-- and Nenya and the Tarrasque. Grabbed Nenya; the Tarrasque and some other inhabitants are of course still asleep.
I already have Narya and am wearing it instead of my Damage +15 ring. Killing stuff takes a little longer but those precious ?Banishment etc don't get burned up, and killing Gothmog became surprisingly easy. Substituting Nenya for my speed ring would only drop me to +20 speed unhasted. I've avoided the Tarrasque several times before this, but fire and frost immunities, 30 speed, 543.5 damage per turn, and rDisen make killing the "unkillable" reptile seem like a possibility.
I imagine it wouldn't make sense for me to take on the Tarrasque immediately, since I've left the stacks of major healing potions at home. All I have with me is 1 !*Heal*, 10 !Heal, and 38 !CCW. I do have a few staves of healing too, but fail rate and touch to drain charges mean that's not a help. A disenchantment breath could hit me for up to 429 (=500*6/7) damage.
What kind of equip and supplies would you feel are needed to fight the Tarrasque? Any other thoughts you want to throw in that might also apply to the other ones I've been avoiding- Ancalagon, Kronos, Carcharoth, Huan, and Vecna?
