And at what dungeon level? I'm not even sure, but are "mimic" potions or scrolls considered as the mimicked item when treasure feeling is calculated? I could see how they could be to prevent a source of information leakage. If so, a false, say potion of experience, could register as superb at a shallow enough depth.
“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Exactly. Unidentified potion around 1000ft, probably potion of experience, counting as far as the level feeling goes. Enough to make it superb.

This is why I suggested that mimics should be changed to use unknown flavors. Unknown is interesting without affecting level feeling.

That could be an information leak of another sort, once @ knows all the flavors. Excluding mimics from the level feeling treasure calculation entirely would make sense to me, they should have been included in the monster danger feeling already. However, that is also a sort of information leak. You see a Potion of Experience on DL 12, but the treasure feeling is "scraps of junk". Ah, that must be a mimic.... I'm not sure which information leak is preferable.

In my opinion, mimics should be treated identically to all other items up until the player makes some kind of physical interaction with the mimic, at which point they should be revealed. Level feelings are not physical interactions, ergo mimics should be included in them.

And, if the tenuous justification for the treasure level feeling is based on what @ sees around him, then I have to agree with you. The @ would see the mimic as an item and include it in the calculation of how good the treasures are.

That would require that you know the amount of flavors. Which is another related thing that bugs me, you have that info in squelch menu. It removes part of the wonder factor when you know that there isn't anything new to find in this or that item type.

Always fun to get a superb feeling at 1700', clear the whole level without finding anything, and in the last room you explore there's Wrath of God lying around... and you play a mage.

Or finding, twice, Kelek's in the first 30 min of a game in the current horribly difficult comp
In my current game, my first "9" level, around 1600' maybe, had a smallish vault containing *BOTH* Godly Insights and Ethereal Openings. Playing hobbit mage... There was some other reasonably good stuff including an amulet of trickery and some elvenkind gear. I didn't even have base-4 covered when I walked in, so those were definitely nice upgrades.
