    Monster memory from 3.5.0

    Hello

I was not very fond of Angband. But I loaded back some days ago my half-troll warrior and now I'm in !
But it is still 3.5.0 and I see 4.0.2 was released since then. I guess my save is not compatible, that's not a problem I'll finish this one first.
I've read monster memory is now independant from char saves. But is these a way once my char will be dead to export my monster memory somehow for next games in 4.0.2

This is a very naive question, maybe the answer is very simple, but I have no clue at the moment

    Thanks

You are correct, the new version breaks savefile compatability. Also monster memory from 3.5 will not be transferable. However, in 4.0.+, if you copy monster.txt from the gamedata folder and rename it lore.txt and replace the lore.txt file you will have complete monster memory.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Just curious... let's suppose 4.2.0 comes out; now that monster memory is independent from savefiles, I imagine that it is possible to carry it over by simply copying the file. But, suppose that a monster's properties have been changed (for instance, drolems now breath shards instead of poison). What happens to the monster memory? Will it be shown as the old version until I see a drolem breating shards? Will wrong properties be deleted on load? Will "breathes poison" stay there forever even if it is no longer true?
