    Uncommonly good start

So I'm having a very good start with some unusual positives:

I just picked up gloves of Theivery on DL13: <+5> Dexterity! And prevent paralysis. I picked up the Long Sword Evagil {Special} on DL10. Both of these items were acquired on relatively low level feelings (there aren't many treasures here). Both were dropped by monsters, the weapon by Mughash the Kobold. I also recently discovered a good use for a wand of wonder; use it on uniques! I easily took out Wormtongue with it as well as Mughash. It's good on uniques because it won't duplicate them, (they'll resist that effect!

I also found an uncommonly good ring of the mouse. It only has (0, -5) and actually increases the damage my Evagil does, because it gives it the +1 DEX it needs to reach 2.8 blows a round! I've never seen a ring of the mouse do that. And the additional +3 stealth sure doesn't hurt! I also somehow have 3 staves of ID good for 46 charges! Never had so many identifies so early in the game. Oh, and I also picked up a ring of ice on DL10 and then bought a ring of lightning from the black market so I have two powerful ranged attacks flying off my fingers.

Geez, Metal scale mail of Resistance on Dl16 [38, +3].

I'm now at 900' and on a level with 2-9 feeling and found a Kelek's Grimoire of Power which is perfectly useless to me as I read green books. Would this item be the reason for the 9 feeling? I hope not. :-/

    Lol. Rng.

I'm playing an ironman ranger, and I've cleared every level except for the ones skipped from ?Deep Descent.

Not a single level has given me greater than a 3 danger or item rating. Still only lvl 14 though, so we'll see.

That book isn't common on 4900'. Finding it on 900' is amazing. If feelings weren't capped at 9, it'd probably be higher.

Yeah, I've found Mordekan's Escapes(sp?) at similar levels. When I had selling on it was a great find ($18,000 or something). Was a bit disappointing that the level 9 feeling was completely useless to me. A potion of boldness would have been better.

In other news, shortly after I made this thread I picked up a ring of the mouse (+0,-8) <+4, +4> which boosted my weapon even more. Just now bought sandals of speed <+5> from the black market. I was in the dungeon for awhile and had saved up $50k. The sandals cost me the lionshare of that, tho. I couldn't buy the ring of damage as well (+0, +9).

Someone had made a thread about {ego} items that are better than {special}. Well, I am using a lance of lightning (+4, +10) over the Long Sword Evagil because it's doing twice as much damage most of the time. And I picked up the Guantlets of Pauruch which are pretty useless when I already have a rod and two wands of bolts/lightning, a ring of lightning and recently picked up an armor of lightning (dragon scale mail). Loving my gloves of Thievery!
