Damn. I love the change on the dragon mail ignoring. It's been very helpful!

I don't see why you'd release a 4.0.4; nobody would ever be able to find it.

This seems like a reasonable compromise between too little choice (the current situation), and flooding the list with DSMs. Note that this fix has also done the launcher and DSM split for quality ignore.

This will be in the next nightly build, which should be up shortly; note that loading an existing character will work, but wipe all the ego and quality ignore settings.

spoiler generation bug in 4.0.2 OS X

I ^C'd a character, and tried to generate object spoilers from the tombstone screen.
The game proceeded to show messages of "auto-inscribed a scroll of recall," auto-inscribed a scroll of phase doc," "auto-inscribed a scroll of identify" ad infinitum, without ever returning me to the tombstone screen, and I eventually had to force-kill the application.

    Other observations:
    • these three are the only scroll auto-inscribes I have defined, although I also have definitions for a number of other staves, rods, wands and spell books.
    • this appears reproducible with a brand-new character, and the bug is triggered regardless of whether I actually have the scrolls in inventory.
    • it is only the object spoiler generation that is affected; other spoilers seem to complete with no problem.
    • the object.spo file does get generated prior to the app entering the infinite message loop.

This is fixed in the latest build.

I like to imagine that one of the dungeon architects thinks they're in a Loony Tunes show. "Oh, what's behind this door? A...blank stone wall. Huh."

That's probably what happened. I did see the door from afar, but that was probably because I had been keeping trap/door/stair detection up.

Thank you so much, Nick. You are the man!

There was a problem (fixed in 4.0.2) where a bunch of monster lore info wasn't saved properly when the game quit - I suspect this is the same issue. Please report if you run across it again in a later version.

This is the first time I've noticed a tense-agreement issue, but I'll keep an eye out for other instances.
This is very odd. I can't see any way for this to happen - "hit" is only ever used in melee, all ranged attacks apparently use "hits".

Please report this again in the 4.0.3 bugs thread if keeps coming up - with context/savefile if possible.

Does the device skill damage bonus not apply to Activations?

At least there's no such information in the item descriptions.

Also Activation damage info is not highlighted in green there.
The bonus does apply, but activations are described separately from other effects because they get a special description that's in the file activation.txt. Other item effects are put together from individual components listed in object.txt, and so their damage can be treated separately in the description.

What's up with that?
Those other things that you took for 4.0.3 nightlies were actually the latest builds of the cone breath and knowledge feature branches. Currently the autobuilder page only shows builds of the master branch, of which there weren't any post 4.0.3 when you looked (there is one now).
