    player ghosts

    Does anyone else miss the 'player ghost' feature of Angband past?

    --For those who might not have experienced it, when a character died some of its stats, along with the character's name, would be saved in a file and it could reappear in future games as a zombie. It was a hoot!

    Um maybe you should repost as a poll...

    I vote YES!!! I miss @ghosts.

      That would be rock hard awesome. I've never played a version with ghosts, and I would personally love to see it.

            I'm all for player ghosts, but as in my previous post, I'd prefer my 1st level characters not get attacked on the town level by uber ghosts! Its a feature that I really miss, though.

            I also miss Wormtongue dropping upto 8 excellent items.

              That's funny...I would rather lose a 1st level character, right out of the gate, to a former self, rather than lose a high level character to one. I like the irony of going to the general store, buying the lantern, heading out to kill Morgoth, and getting whacked into the dust by a familiar looking zombie.

              Time to roll a new character!

                Yeah, used to get a real buzz when seeing a ghost with my name on! Meant you were in for a good fight with some nice items. Bring it back!

                  Since no one has voted against ghosts, I thought I should put my vote in. I'd really rather play Angband without ghosts. I think of ghosts as a Nethack thing. They work well in Nethack, but I don't think they would in Angband. Maybe have it as a birth option to have player ghosts. Birth options are a good thing, I like having a choice about this kind of thing.

                    I think this is a very PC solution This way everybody is happy and if your ghost kills you, you have no one to blame but yourself

                      weird, i think anyone wanting to die by their own (undead) hand , should just play NPP / FAA both of which IIRC (painfully!) have Player @ returning from the grave.
