    Black Stone background for Angband

Hi, I really like the look of the black stone background that was available for the dos version of angband 3.0.6, however the dos version dosen't work on my newer xp computer. I usually play with the windows console pure ascii version, I'm guessing it's an ibm version. The black stone background is nice to look at and it really makes the screen a lot clearer and neater to look at. Is there a way to have this background available for windows or the Ibm port of the game?

    No, I'm afraid not. Sorry.

Ah, I should correct you here; the console version isn't an ibm version, it's actually a version specifically for the Windows console. (It doesn't share any code with the old IBM port.)

I have used Dosbox before, I tried it on the dos version of angband and it worked fine. However if you try to use the 1024x768 screen resolution, Dosbox screws up and spits out errors. I had to reinstall a fresh version of the game, and tried not to go higher than 800x600 with the adam bolt tiles. It seemed to work ok that way. Never played that dos version with tiles so I wanted to give it a try. Just beat sangband, pure ascii version, time to go to something different. I am more in tune with vanilla angband, and am currently awaiting the final realease of 3.1.0. I like the windows console mode takkira has made availiable to us, but I want to wait for the final version before I devote time to it, am afraid to play a beta version of a game. Thanks for that console mode takkira! I enjoy it but am going to wait for your final realease of 3.1.0.!

FWIW, I didn't write the console mode port; the requisite work was done by a guy called Marco K who appeared briefly and then disappeared again.

3.0.9 is perfectly playable, and has a console port, though-- why not play that? http://rephial.org/release/3.0.9b

Actualy I tried that dos version 3.0.6 last night, and while the interface was pretty to look at it, having to use dosbox, and the small scrunched up interface was annoying. I don't care to have to squint to look at the screen. I can't tell what's going on when my characters the size of a speck of dust. I think I will probably go to 3.0.9 for now. The problem is there is features in 3.1.0 that I like, that 3.0.9 dosen't have, so it's kind of hard to want to play one version, when you know the next version is better. By the way I played a little of 3.0.9 console mode, and the screen was scrunched up and kind of small, I remember the console mode as being full-screen. Any ideas? Or do I just need to restart the old computer?

Maximize the console before opening Angband in it. This should also get you a term-window below the main display.

Okay, the difference is that last time I played the console, you couldn't seem to add a term window, it wasn't a split screen basically, It was I guess I should call full-screen or big-screen mode. Now even though it's full-screen only half the main screen is devoted to the display while the other half is for the term window. Is there a way to make the main display cover the full-screen? I can't really see what's going on with the main screen only being half the view.
