I don't hockey stick, but I still find the doors stupidly powerful. Using it well makes me feel clever, even though it's not really that difficult, but just making players feel that way is a strong argument to keep it, to my mind. When I have a wizard zooming to and from town with Recall from a safe fortress of doors, I feel like The Doctor and his phonebooth.
Which books should I squelch?

+1. Once you "get it", Create Doors is just an amazing "aha" moment!Comment

I do not think a priest should squelch PB1. Cure light wounds is very cost-effective, and call light is useful sometimes even when you have all books.Comment

I think one (heavy) slot less used is well worth losing two somewhat useful spells. If I find Insights early I carry bunch of rods of illumination in place of book one. Weight of the books makes them something you really want to get rid of. Fire immunity combined with theft-proof dex makes your adventuring a lot lighter.
Hm, just noticed that Purifications CSW cost one mana more than Words of Wisdom CSW and both have same effect. Cure Mortal is cheaper. That is something that requires fixing. Maybe CSW in Purification is supposed to be CCW.Comment

And I'm sure that you doesn't want to wake something nasty up with Call Light. Clairvoyance does not wake monsters up though.
PB1 has its usefulness early game, but gets obsolete later.Comment

It sounds like this tele level into death mold thing means you can tele level into morgoth melee on lvl 99. Kinda dangerous, didn't know that. Not very likely though. Never run into this monster moves first phenomenon.Comment

Once a priest can effectively cast Detection from PB6 then PB1 is fairly useless. Call Light is better replaced with the Phial (a priest has no need for the Star or Arkenstone, apart from resists, since he can cast Sense Surroundings and Clairvoyance) which frees up inventory and costs no mana, or rods of illumination which are less heavy than the books and don't burn up. Heal from PB4 is a much better option than casting CLW constantly. But it can take some time to find PB6 and get the fail rates down to a reasonable level, so until then PB1 is worth carrying.Last edited by Ingwe Ingweron; May 1, 2015, 23:09.“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”
