Ah, yes I was - Adam Bolt tileset (find it nicer / more fun to watch than in ASCII mode which just repaints a bit too quick to follow the action). Tried the Gervais tiles + bigtile mode just out of curiosity, but refreshes were _very_ sloooooow. Never tried either ASCII or Gervais tiles long enough to see if stoppages occurred there. I've now had the borg running in ASCII mode on a virtual console for about 15min or so without a stoppage yet. Will report if it does.

    cheers,

    - b.

      ...and it did

"A gruesome software bug LEAPS out at you! Panic save succeeded!"

it ran fine for a few hours though, and I've since restarted it and is ok for now.

wow, and on 308 it runs forever. I have multiple computers at my office that run borgs 24/7. The 308 never freaks out. What I need to do is install VisualStudio on those machines so I can debug the 309 crashes. I am committed to keeping the borg up to date with the game code. I started programing the borg in early 1996 and really enjoy the work. I have no plans on abandoning the project.

As soon as I get my drive back I will look at the unhook-error from the wank error. It was induced from the graphic tiles. He failed to recognize a tile and it really bothered him. It is highly unusual for him to unhook from the normal tiles sets.

I've got a 3.0.9b APWborg running on linux and I've seen angband die with a 'software error' (or some message like that) 3 times now - it seems to happen when the borg decides to money scum and a *lot* of townsfolk spawn.

          I set borg_self_scum = FALSE in borg.txt, we'll see if that helps

(command line I've been starting with is "angband -mgcu")

This should be in a different post. But if the error is due to too many monsters in that short area (monster flow I would guess), I can fix that by having the borg move more often. He will hunt down the townspeople as soon as one appears in his vision. Currently, he rests about 5-10 turns then takes a single step in a random direction. Having him move more often will trigger him earlier so, in theory, there will be fewer monsters to clear. This will have little negative effect on the scumming ability. I will heap it onto the 'todo' list.

I will be out of programming for about 1 more month. Summer is my busy time, and I am making a leather suit of armor for the renaissance faire. I have been on it for about 4 hours a day, each day, for the last 5 weeks. It is near completion. I'll have to post some photos when it is completed.

              No worries.

I'm not sure it's due to the number of townsfolk - I had it happen again deep in the dungeon, while the borg was trying to do something with his inventory - I have a save file and a borg log from that (mailed it to you, too), if I get a chance I'll poke around and see if I can figure out what's going on (work is evil). (of course, it's always possible it's two different bugs causing the same symptom, but there's a possibility it's the same thing because there was a lot of stuff on the ground when it happened in town)

Have fun at the fair, it's been a long, long time since I've managed to get to go, I'm jealous.
