    YAWP - ik

    ShowOff :

After about 15 tries, all of them dying before stat are high enough for the dive, I finally have a winner

Was more easy than i thought. needed only couple of helas and about 7 destructs and 1 or 2 mass banish. Most diffcult part is getting "P" in front after he summons so you can teleport him out before destruct. (I didnt dare try massbanish while he was around, do uniques stay on then?)

I endede the fight letting "P" hit me. It worked quite well he hardly damaged me en he blocked the other baddies. Like that he quickly lost his last 35% HP while I quaffed 2 potions of LIFE. Whahahahaha. Why is Morgy too stupid to bring some pots himself

Congrats! A win after only 15 attempts is very impressive indeed.

      Congrats on the win!

For reference, Banishment and Mass Banishment do not affect uniques. If you want a unique off the level, your only options are a) kill them, b) use Destruction on them, or c) hope they get squished by an earthquake (which has similar effects as Destruction).

        And now?

        Thanks,

but before you think i'm god.. I did play the game in an earlier version about ten years ago. never managed a win back then. still only 15 tries now means I'm better than in my younger years

Any suggestions for my next race to victory?

(btw where can you see the counts/turns you used?)

Play a half-troll, any class. They're great fun.

Looks like you took 168551 turns to beat the game, which is a decent speed. A skilled player who tries to avoid wasting time can generally beat the game in under 100k turns. Turn listings are towards the bottom of the character dump you posted, though there's a bug in the display; every event is max(turn on which event happened, turn on which you last loaded your save file). Still, good enough for figuring out how long you took. You can also see turns in the character screen, at the top of the dump: 918720 game turns, 168551 standard turns, 60893 resting turns. Game turns are basically "absolute game time" that passed during the game; there's 10 game turns per normal-speed turn, fewer for faster characters. Resting turns are the turns you spent resting, of course.

so the earlier you find a ring of speed +12 the lower your standard turn count?

            Funny concept.

Anyway: Halftroll it wil be. HP rules anyway later on. It seems in this game that as long as you have HP left.. you didn't die.

"Standard" turns are the number of actions you take. So finding a ring of speed early on will only decrease your standard turns in that it puts you way ahead on the power curve, so you probably won't need to spend as much time grinding.

However, getting early speed will drastically reduce your game turns, since a lot of the game time is spent in the early game when each action takes 10 game turns. It's kinda funny, really: in "realtime" the player's exploits get more and more densely-packed as the game goes on and their speed increases. Like:

Day 1: killed Lagduf, the Snaga!
                  Day 2: running from Mim.
Day 3: made it to stat gain.
Day 4: killed the Balrog of Moria.
Day 4.25: half of the Tolkein universe is dead.
Day 4.5: Everyone except Morgoth is dead.
                  Day 4.55: Morgoth is dead!

Trampling monsters can also delete uniques. Horned Reaper can trample Qlyzz..whateveritis. I was quite surprised to see that happening considering that Qylzz... is deeper monster than Horned Reaper.

                      How does trampling work BTW?

As far as I can tell, anything goes.

                          Ikk

So the suggestion taken to play a HT... i picked the warrior class.

After three early deaths now Ikk on the roll.

Only two dives and the excellents really turn up like flies on rotten meat.

So many sold that i could even purchase a longbow of power.

This Char must die horribly soon.. no other way
