    Lagduf is my buddy

Long time player (since Rogue on my father's IBM PC!), first-time poster here, although I dabbled with rgra back in the day. I go long stretches without playing, but I always come back to the 'bands. Thanks to everyone for keeping this amazing gaming genre alive.

Anyway, I just wanted to brag about the little death present that Lagduf left my level 12 mage at 450'. It'll be a while before I replace this puppy in this game.

    Code:
    q) the Short Sword of Arind (1d7) (+17,+6) [+17] <+2, +1>
Dropped by Lagduf, the Snaga at 450 feet (level 9).

         +2 wisdom.
         +10% to searching.
Slays animals, evil creatures, trolls, giants.
         *Slays* dragons, undead.
         Branded with weak flames.
         Provides immunity to fire.
Provides resistance to cold, light, sound, nether, chaos.
         Provides protection from fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.
Blessed by the gods. Feather Falling. Prevents paralysis.
Grants the ability to see invisible things.
         Radius 1 light.

When aimed, it drains up to 150 hit points of life from a target
creature. Does not affect undead, demons, golems, elementals or
         vortices.
Takes 81 to 99 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 93.3%
EDIT: Oh, and soon after that, I found a Potion of Experience on the floor at 500'. Level 15 to *poof* level 29. I am now VERY scared for the inevitable RNG revenge.

EDIT #2: And THEN, after that, I found two Deep Descent scrolls, read those to get to 1100', and found *another* Potion of Experience. Now up to level 31.

    Right into Basilisk depth then.
With no rPoison on your little fruit knife.
    Be afraid.

What I found annoying about finding Potion of Experience early, when/if you get stats drained it can be a long time before you hit that next level. On my next character I'd consider saving the potion until I was at stat gain levels or had my important stats protected.

@MattB Poison breathers at that level? As I recall from 3.0 and before 2000' was the magic depth for needing rPoison.

And don't do huge amounts of damage. Survivable without poison resist if you just have decent HP.

Expect to see those on vaults and zoos at 1100'.
