Max stats

I suppose that I have maxed my stats. I was experimenting, to see if that were true, or not. So, I quaffed every stat potion I could find.

Then - I found a potion of toughness. Nothing ELSE would raise my dex - or anything else - so I quaffed.

The potion took Dex from 18/170 down to 18/160 - and I saw nothing in return! My Con stayed at 18/130. I was prepared for the drop to 18/160, and I quaffed a potion of Dexterity immediately to get back to 18/170. No problem there.

Is this the way the potion is meant to act, or is this some kind of an oversight?

OR - did the game just recognize that I was trying to cheat, so the RNG's tried to punish me?

This is all working as intended. Once you hit 18/100 "internal" stats (i.e. before race/class/equipment bonuses), stat potions no longer have any effect. The swap potions (like Toughness, Intellect, etc.) will still happily reduce a stat for you, but they can't boost stats in exchange, so they're only useful if you're really desperate to restore a drained stat.

Got it - if I'm dumb enough to drain a stat, or I'm desparate enoguh, then the potions will cooperate with me. Thanks!
