I just found my second Ringil in about a year. I wasn't playing for most of that year so I suppose it's more like 4 months. Now I have to somehow not die with this pathetic CON'd but 18/210 INT gnome mage. Most monster's psionic attacks/mortal wounds around dlev 40 will kill him if he doens't save. Pathetic hit points, but boy can he cast!
How many Ringils?

Ringil is super amazing and super rare..I've only seen it once in about 20 years of playing
As for the CON, you want to make it a priority, rings of constitution can be worth using a ring slot for, and you'll want to keep an eye out for other gear with CON bonuses such as the shield of Thorin, helm of Hammerhand, Dor-Lormin and so on. -
Found it once. On a kobold rogue, my only character to ever make it to DL99 and kill Sauron.
Now that I think about it, that character never did die, the save should be on that hard drive sitting on the shelf. I might dig it up and go visit Morgoth.Comment

Luckiest character ever.
(Only thing "missing" is Fëanor, I think. Also check out the Speed Ring +23 )Comment

Rings of speed can go arbitrarily high. They get a semi-random depth-dependent bonus, and then start flipping coins. As long as the coin comes up heads they get another +1 and a reflip; the first tails they get stops the process. Getting a +23 would require probably at least 13 successful flips (assuming a starting bonus of +10, which is probably overgenerous of me), for odds of 1 in 8192.Comment

In the original thread, I think there was one other poster who had (at one point) got a +23 ring. There were no takers on +24, I don't think.Comment

I wonder if the chances of getting these rarities have changed over the years. I had 3 winners over the 3.0.6 to 3.0.9 versions and 2 of them found Ringil and the One Ring. Of course I take a lot of turns to win.
I've been playing 3.5.1 and I know the *thanc daggers are a lot easier to find.Comment

When I found Fëanor first (and only) time I didn't even realize what I had found and thought "new type of ego, I wonder what this does...". And that was in a version where, due a bug in object creation, it was like walking in a shoe store, so I'm not sure I should count it.
I think I have found every artifact now at least twice, except that Fëanor.Comment

I have found it bazillion times, but Fëanor only once. To me it was as common as Thorin when I started to play. I found it nearly literally every game, most of time at or right after stat-gain.

Found the Golden Crown of Gondor recently and it was a great find. I think stun resistance has got to be about the rarest in the game. Found a Cloak of the Magi with resist stun in my recent gnome mage win and never took it off .Comment
