I think there may be something funny happening with Pseudo-ID. My current character is a mage with terrible pseudo-id, however, it seems like when one item in your inventory gets pseudo-ID all of the others do as well regardless of how long you have been carrying them. I've seen this a couple times, all of a sudden you get 5-6 feelings and everything is "ID'ed".

The game does pseudo-ID passes through your pack at intervals, and each item has a chance to ID each interval. If the chance is high enough then it's very common to see lots of items get pseudo'd in a single pass. Pseudo-ID in general is far more likely to happen nowadays than it used to, as the devs have largely concluded that the ID "minigame" is dumb (at least when it comes to equipment). -
I see. I always thought it was a function of how long you were carrying an item. My guess is I leveled up between passes increasing the pseudo-ID chance and getting everything on the next pass. I don't think it was a matter of having a high chance as some of the items I had been carrying for quite some time.My first winner: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=10138Comment

I encountered the odd situation yesterday when as a mage, and after reaching level 11 and thus the identify spell, I went back home in town to ID all the early low level items I'd encountered and stored there, and every single time I picked up an un-ID'd item from home, and left to cast the spell, it pseudo-ID'd immediately, about 7-8 times in a row.Comment

In latest Angband, pseudo-id is now instant when you reach clvl20.PWMAngband variant maintainer - check https://github.com/draconisPW/PWMAngband (or http://www.mangband.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=9) to learn more about this new variant!Comment

I think it even does full ID if item is just {good} after a while. I picked up some bolts that pseudo-ID as {good} and some time later they got full ID without me using them. I don't recall previous versions doing that.Comment
