My first randart win! And first with a human. I ended up with a nice set of equipment: all stats >= 18/200, INT 18/*** (pretty good for a human!), +30 base speed, all resists covered except hold life and stun.
The Mace of Disruption of Gondolin made short order of dragons & demons & undead uniques (except for Cantoras who's just too hard for a mage to hit...I would have to say Cantoras was the most difficult unique for this character and put it off to the very end, even after Sauron). Early on Rift was the preferred damage dealer against uniques, switching to Chaos Strike and a few mana storms at the end.
Final fight was a mix of -Annihilation, -Drain Life, Chaos strike, Mana storm, and a dozen or so arrows of Holy Might for variety (hit percentage was pretty good). There were a few uniques left, and TO removed them from the picture when they showed up. Morgoth was far less summon crazy in this fight compared to vs. my Grok the Half Troll Warrior.
0% Destruction, Banishment, Mass Banishment are very powerful. 0% TO and sufficient speed + ESP allows fast, relatively safe diving. Once I got banish I never fought another hound, vortex, or golem, and very few Q (although dragon farming with a green Q can be convenient for treasure and experience).
I used maybe 4 or 5 potions of Restore Mana for the final fight. I was stressing because my _Magi's burned up earlier and couldn't find more, but I had about 33 !Restore Mana and that is way more than enough, even given the fairly frequent greater recharging. 3 out of the 4 -Annihilation blew up in rapid succession on Greater Recharge (only ever cast with 0 charges) in a fluke of the RNG. The stack of -Drain Life had no explosions. I measured the damage and the Drain Life did almost as much damage as the Annihilation due to magic device bonus, so next time I'd may not bother with the Annihilation since they're much more fragile.
Fought in a destructed area, re-destructed once when it got a bit too opened up. Next time I may try corridors of runes in a slightly more opened up arena, since I could only damage Morgoth when he was in line of sight, and in a destructed area that meant when he was pretty close so I only had a few rounds before I had to TO him or cast PD.
All in all it was a straightforward final fight. Fully loaded, maxed out mages are amazingly powerful, they are true masters of the dungeon. All that tip-toeing around with terrible HP in the early and mid game is more than made up for in the end.
A Short Bow of Lothlórien with telepathy granted a great deal of flexibility in juggling equipment to get this ideal final configuration.
