advice for maxing wisdom as half troll

I had a half-troll priest who died fighting Morgoth, and got some advice (from Derakon, I think) about trying to max wisdom for 0% fail.

Well, I've got his ancestor in decent shape to give M a go, but I can't quite seem to get all the wisdom I need with my current gear. Deciding what to keep in home with its limited space is a real challenge for me, and I probably made some mistakes and lost stuff I should have kept, but I'm not sure.

If any of you wouldn't mind taking a look at my dump and sharing any advice I would appreciate it.

Easy: lose Evenstar, use Amulet of Wisdom. Instant WIS 18/200 with sustain.

So it's ok to lose the HLife and Nether resist?

Hlife is fairly irrelevant for the end fight (unless you've dived REALLY hard).
Nether resist is also not that important for the purple P because a resisted nether attack can still do something like 85% of the full amount and so you have to treat it as a mana attack (i.e unresistable) anyway.

Resistance to nether, for a priest, is not as important as 0% fail. With 0% fail you can cast your big healing spells guaranteed. And you don't care about Hold Life because you can always cast, um, I think it's called Remembrance? Anyway, you have a prayer that restores lost EXP.

6/7 actually. Morgoth doesn't do heavy nether damage anyway. All his bad attacks are unresistable. I would try to get Thorin in the equation though. More CON for about 200 more HP would help quite a lot. Problem is that he loses poison resist in that process.

Resistance-wise none of them are important against Morgoth, only summons are a bit problem.

Lose the book 1. You don't need it once you get clairvoyance from book 6. All the other spells in there are duplicated elsewhere or are not required. Saves some weight and gives important space in inventory.

if you don't mind grinding a little more, I think +7 speed rings are rather lousy for a char about to take on the big M, I think if you clean out a single mid sized vault somewhere between floor 90-98 odds are you will find a ring +11 or +12 speed. Then you can replace one of the speed rings or the speed boots by some other item that gives nice stats and still be fast enough. One of rings of power would seem a good choice and finding at least one of them is reasonably likely in deep vaults.

You don't really need more speed for the last fight, although finding a RoS +11 would allow you to swap out one of the +7 RoS for a ring of damage or something (maybe con), while maintaining the +30 speed.

How are you planning to kill him? I think I beat him to death with my priest; a slow and painful method. OoD or annihilation(?) prayer from WoG are alternatives.

I'd keep rPois just in case he summons a great swamp wyrm or the like.

When u fight Sauron (assuming you haven't already done so), make sure you have a source of rdisenchant, or keep him from H2H attack.

Thanks guys. I took the advice and simply switched my necklace from Evenstar to +6 wisdom. 0% fail on everything including glyph is noticeably beneficial.

Went down to 99 last night and took out Witch King, and 3 remaining ringwraiths. I was able to find two +8 speed rings and a boots of speed +9, an improvement but not enough to dump one of the rings yet. Then I took on Sauron and was victorious.

I saved right after the battle next to the stairs. If I decide I want to hunt for a different rPois so I can equip Thorin, should I go down to 100 first then recall? What happens if I recall from 99 after Sauron is dead? Will the stairs to 100 be available on the new 99 when I come back?

Once Sauron is dead, there will always be stairs on 99 leading to 100, so there's no need for you go to Morgoth's lair just yet.

Managed to send Sauron to the Endless Void. I'm going to try to gear up a bit more before taking on Morgoth. Thanks everyone for the advice!
